We have continuous access to three workshop spaces: Two dance studios have wooden floors. There is also a small warm-up studio on the 2nd floor of the Hacienda (HA-131) that is ideal for small groups of 1-10 people. These spaces have stereos with cd players and connections for ipods. We also have some boom boxes for use in other spaces.
There are also many lovely spaces for work outside: Beautiful gardens, several open fields that are often used for sports in the afternoons and evenings, and an outdoor plaza with a rather industrial street-like surface.
Rehearsal spaces are catch as catch can. We do not reserve rehearsal spaces for people. We encourage you to grab a space when it is free and also to share with others if they need to use the space also.
As to performing spaces:
We will be presenting work primarily in five spaces. Four of them intimate venues for the sharing of Contemporary Dance Practice. And a formal auditorium.
The alternative spaces are listed below:
A Black Box (Artes Escénicas AG-106).
UDLAP’s dance studio (AG-107).
Casa Nueve: art gallery/workshops/multiforum/meeting point for artists.
Centro Cultural Segundo Piso: training dance center and alternative space for artists to present work.
These venues are low tech, but excellent platforms for presenting work.
