Proposals / Guidelines

The period for submitting proposals for Performática 2009 was between Sept 11th and Nov 2nd, 2008. We are no longer accepting proposals. We are very pleased by the large response we have received, and we anticipate a fantastic event April 13-24th, 2009. While the time has passed to express your interest in participating as a presenting artist, you may still attend Performática to take classes, see performances, attend panels, and enjoy the social events. To attend, you must register through the registration page on this website. We anticipate that registration will begin in late February 2009. Please check back after the first week of February for more details on participating artists, workshops, performances etc. Thank you.

What We Can Offer

For selected presenting artists we offer:

  • Teaching and Performance Opportunities (we will try to provide the optimal environment for your work; see the general info below for more info on our production possibilities)
  • Publicity
  • Access to all roundtables, paper presentations, workshops, performances, and discussions
  • A supportive environment for formal and informal exchange

What We Cannot Offer

  • Transportation costs or stipends for teaching or performing etc.

Should you have any questions about funding, official invitations, or other matters relating to your participation - please get in touch with the Performática team though the contact page.

General Information

We are fortunate to have many different venues for performances, workshops, video showings and papers. Venues range from informal yet intimate studio spaces to multi-media lecture halls, a black box, a larger, open-plan low-tech space, a university proscenium stage, and bars and clubs, as well as a limited amount of time in downtown Puebla's Teatro De La Ciudad. There are also plenty of opportunities for site-specific work in town, and pleasant grounds on the campus for working outdoors. (see facilities page for more info).

If it is imperative to the realization of your vision that you have access to a high def theater, please let us know. The more formal theaters are the Teatro de la Ciudad and the Auditorio of the UDLA Campus. We reserve the right to ask you to perform in another venue if we do not have sufficient time/space in the formal theaters.

It has been our experience that for shared, evening performances in the theater spaces, individual pieces should not be longer than 10-12 minutes. Should you need more time for your presentation let us know and we will try to meet your needs. Be aware, though, that performances with longer run times will need to be placed in alternative spaces that may have less technical support.
